I hear you! I would rather ride too – but here’s the thing. It is actually less stressful for your horse (and for you) to fix your training issues and introduce new concepts from the ground. For your horse, it’s easier for them to engage their topline and bend without you sitting on their back! For you, you can actually see what your horse is doing and your aids are more effective. With groundwork you will avoid confrontations and evasions under saddle because your horse will understand how to respond to the aids.
Here are a few movements that you MUST teach from the ground first:

Bend
It’s way easier to teach your horse to bend in the body without you sitting on them because it is easier for them to balance and lift their back muscles.
Round
Teach your horse to accept the bit and “go round” before you even get on! Believe me – you will save you and your horse a lot of confusion and frustration!
How to respond to your aids
Teach your horse exactly how to respond to the leg and rein aids from the ground. You will feel an immediate change when riding.
Rein Back
The rein back is NOT a natural movement for horses. It is way easier to teach the aids from the ground and physically, without the weight of a rider, it’s easier for your horse too!
Leg-yield
Sideways movements are not natural for horses. Teaching it from the ground is easier for the horse because they don’t have to manage the weight of the rider.
Shoulder-in
Shoulder-in is about getting your horse even and strong on both hind legs.
Square Halts
The great thing about working on halts from the ground is that you can see when the halt is square and instantly reward your horse!
Piaffe
This really is the pinnacle of Dressage! And you MUST teach it from the ground. When you break it down and teach it step by step, your horse will learn to piaffe with ease!

The masterclass ‘officially’ starts on Feburary 4th 2024, but as soon as you purchase you get lifetime access and can get started! The course is designed to work through the material in 8 weeks, but students are encouraged to take their own pace.
You have lifetime access to all the learning material in our learning platform! The private Facebook group is open for 8 weeks starting January 28th 2024 . While the Facebook will be archived, you will always have access to the content to review again and again.
Yes! There are many sections within this course dedicated specifically to young horse development. While some they might not be ready for right now, you can work on the pre-requisites with them and shape their current skills. Using groundwork to develop your young horse is a fantastic way to help them learn the aids in an less taxing and less stressful way.
No! This program works for horses of all ages. While there are some advanced exercises that would be too much for an older horse with physical limitations, there are an abundance of other exercises they will benefit from to help their training and to improve their suppleness and topline.
The great part about groundwork is that once you learn the exercises you can easily incorporate them into your routine without adding much time. That said, consistency is key when working with horses. If you only work with your horse 1-2 times a week you will still see results by joining this course. But the more you work with your horse the better they will be, we recommend 4-5 times a week. Remember though, this is quality over quantity. Every session doesn’t have to be a long one (sometimes it’s only 10 min!) and it’s important to listen to your horse.
