In this video I give you the secret to keeping the reins from slipping through your hands.
This is a really common problem for riders and especially because if the horse knows that they can get the reins from you, they will always be trying to make the frame longer. This is not a good trait in a dressage horse.
You can keep the reins from slipping by keeping pressure between your thumb and pointer finger. I also describe how to get the horse more even in the contact. Many dressage horses will be stronger in one rein or the other. Part of the dressage training is getting your horse more even in the contact. To achieve this, you must take contact on the “empty” rein and give on the strong rein!
