Get to know Strides member Tammy

Strides Member of the Month for March!

Each month, we will be profiling one of our Strides Student Members, so everyone can get to know each other a little! This month, let’s get to know Tammy from Wisconsin, USA.

How long have you been a member of Strides?

Approximately 3 years

What’s your favorite part of Strides?

I like the new content that is released each month and I love the guest speakers, especially Ingrid Klimke and Steffen Peters. I also appreciate being able to submit a video each month for review.

How has Strides helped you achieve your goals or work through challenges?

Strides has helped me become more knowledgeable and also realize that I am not the only one faced with the many challenges that come from owning horses.

Tell us more about your horse:

I own three horses…Paris, Sebastian and Jules. Paris is an OTTB and a retired eventer who now just does dressage. We are working on a first level freestyle this year. Sebastian is a Hanoverian/Paint cross and also an eventer but may be retiring soon since he has allergy induced asthma that is starting to limit what he can do in the hot/humid summer months. Jules is a warmblood who just started doing dressage and eventing last summer. However, I just found out a month ago that she has kissing spine so trying to figure out what she can and cannot do.

What’s your goal for the next year?

If the three of them can stay healthy and happy through the summer, then I would like to do a first level free-style with Paris, a BN horse trial with Sebastian and a few dressage shows and horse trials with Jules.

What is something unique about you, your journey or your horse?

I have four children and my daughters are twins who also did eventing and dressage. They are all now “grown and flown” so I finally have more time to ride but I miss them so much!

Final thoughts. Anything else you wish to share here!

I am so grateful that my daughter told me about Amelia approximately 5 years ago! I was struggling to remember what my trainers told me during lessons and was embarrassed to often work on the same things every lesson. After I found Amelia and her helpful videos, I felt like I was able to improve faster and understand what I was being asked to do at lessons. I really like Amelia’s videos where she rides the dressage tests and I love listening to her ride along podcasts on the way to the barn.
