Hey guys! As promised, here’s some footage from Wellington. I had never been there before, and we saw some amazing homes and barns. It was a bit windy and rainy, so we had some interesting weather. The first day was super hot, and then it got cold and rainy, so we experienced all extremes.
The main purpose of this trip was to attend the horse show to watch and learn. I just love sitting at the show, watching good horses and riders compete. There were a ton of Grand Prix horses and riders from all over the world.
I really enjoy watching the riders—what they do with their seat, hands, and legs. It’s also fascinating to see all the different types of horses in dressage competing in the Grand Prix. Each horse has a unique technique, especially in dressage, and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. It’s very rare to find a horse that excels in all movements. I enjoy sitting there, enjoying the day, and watching many talented riders and horses. It helps me train my eye as an instructor and rider, learning what works, what doesn’t, and what the judges are looking for in terms of scoring, rewards, and penalties.
I hope you enjoy this video. I’ve put together some clips from the horse show and also from the Freestyle. I hope you learn something, and maybe one day we’ll meet in Wellington, either competing or just enjoying and watching the show.
Enjoy!
