This week’s video is a voiceover of my FEI 6 Year Old test on a very babyish and insecure Kensington last year!
Some of you have been asking me to do a voiceover video of me riding one of the horses at a horseshow so I decided I’d give you a candid commentary of an FEI 6 Year Old test I did with Kensington. This week’s video is a voiceover of my FEI 6 Year Old test on a very babyish and insecure Kensington last year! It’s a great insight into what I’m thinking during a test!
The FEI 6 Year Old is scored differently, in that you get a score for each of the gaits, one for submission and one for general impression.
This allows you as a rider to show off the gaits without having to ride each movement with crippling accuracy!
In the voiceover, I’ll explain my thought processes behind the geometry to set him up for the changes. I’ll tell you what’s going through my mind throughout and explain what I’m doing to support him as a young, green and big actioned horse! It’s a bit like driving a supercar with a loose steering column! Loads of power but wiggly!
Also, he’d been spooked by a tent in the wind so needed lots of reassurance and confident riding, all of which I’ll describe!
Finally, you’ll get to hear what the judges had to say and how I did!
So take a look at the video to get a proper insight into my mindset in every moment of a test on a young horse! Let me know in the comments if you find this helpful!
Thanks for watching and happy riding!!
