As far as I am concerned, failing sucks! It’s embarrassing and it’s hard and if I’m honest, I find to hard to share my failures because it doesn’t make me look good, and doesn’t make my horse look good.
But we’re all in the same boat, and we’ve grown this amazing community, and I want to put myself out there and share this failure of mine with you, and talk a little bit about what happened.
By doing this I’m hoping it gives YOU the courage to put yourself out there and try something new, but also to EXPECT that you might fail the first time, but that you’ll learn from it!
Because that‘s the big takeaway from failure, is LEARNING. You learn, and you strategize to IMPROVE.
This video takes you through a recent Developing Grand Prix class where myself and Harvey needed to go up the centreline and piaffe at X. Let’s just say, Harvey had some different ideas!
I was SO disappointed, (no one wants to see a 1 or a 0 on their marking sheet right?)
So I went home and practiced and addressed the problems, and then took him out a couple of weeks later to a schooling show.
Watch the video where I show you what happened at the first show, and then take you through with a voiceover of the follow-up show.
Hopefully, you’ll be heartened and get the courage to put yourself out there with the KNOWLEDGE you’ll fail! But also in the knowledge that without failure, you can’t learn and know how to improve! We’re all on the same journey and I want you all to know that!
Let me know in the comments if you find this video helpful or reassuring!
Thanks for watching.
