No matter how good of a rider we are, things can and will go wrong. And murphy’s law says that it will go wrong in the show ring…in front of everyone. It can be disheartening when this happens, but this is my advice on how to pick yourself up, brush it off, and make the most of it.
- Recover and Keep Riding– you get a different score for each movement of a dressage test, sacrifice the one mark and don’t let it continue on to the others!
- Make a Plan -If you know you might have trouble in a certain area or movement, make a plan to give yourself the tools so it doesn’t happen again.
- Learn from your Mistakes– The perfect ride doesn’t teach you anything, the tests with mistakes are where you can identify your weaknesses and work on bettering yourself and your ride.
I believe in you, you got this!
